An electrical engineer by profession and a writer by inclination, Tayenjam Bijoykumar Singh writes short stories, poems and non-fictions in both English and Manipuri. He also translates from Manipuri into English and vice versa. His short stories and essays have appeared in volumes on studies and writings from India’s North East brought out by Oxford University Press, SAGE Publications, National Knowledge Commission (Glimpses from the North-East) and Marg among others. He has four books to his credit, two each in English and Manipuri.
He has received the Katha Award for translation, 2005 and Sarda Translation Award, 2014. His short story ‘Mama I’m up here’, a winning entry in online writing contest, has appeared in ‘Blogprint: The Winners of the Sulekha.com-Penguin Online Writing Contest’ (Penguin Books, 2008)
Some of his short stories have been translated into Telugu and Malayalam, and some of his poems into Marathi and Gujarati.
