Monikuntala Bhattacharjya

Monikuntala Bhattacharjya is a well known and popular figure in modern Assamese literature. Within a very short period,  she established herself as a very versatile and prominent writer. Her writings are very unique and marvellous, different and vibrant as from intimate romantic stories to social issues like witch hunting ,  aids , old age home , mobile theaters,  legendary biopics to children novels Monikuntala covers 360 degrees of a writers atmosphere. In the year 2000 she has expressed herself through poems , she has four poetry collection and one autobiography in verse. In 2004 she won Munin Borkotoky award. In the year 2008 she was awarded Bisnu Rabha bota by sahitya sabha and in 2010 she won Bhabani Sarma smarak award.
She has thirty seven books with some Hindi and English translation including 16 novels, 4 novel collection, 6 short story  collection, 3 children novels ,  2 article collection, 3 works of translation. She is a script writer for feature film and television serials which are based on her story. She is a regular writer of daily news paper and monthly magazine.
