Mirza Abdul Baquie Baig did M Phil in Comparative Literature and Ph.D. in Urdu from Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi). He worked at All India Radio and later joined the BBC World Service in New Delhi. He writes in English, Hindi and Urdu on literary, political and cultural topics as well as poems in Urdu. He has translated poetry into English and Urdu besides translating over a dozen books into Urdu, Hindi and English. He has written a book ‘Jahan-e-Rumi’ on 12th century mystic Persian poet Jelaluddin Rumi, which was published from Publication Division, Govt. of India in 2009. He has contributed to the Learning English program of the BBC Hindi Service for over half a decade.
