A university professor by profession, M. Kamaluddin Ahmed(b.1966) is a poet, critic and researcher. He is the subtle and distinctive voice in contemporary Assamese poetry. On a number of occasions,he has represented Assamese poetry in the national level. His poems have been translated into all Indian languages including French. His poems have appeared in Indian Literature and Samakalin Bharatiya Sahitya. He has obtained a Ph.D. on Modern Assamese Poetry. He has authored and edited 10 books. His book entitled ‘Adhunik Asomiya Kabita’ 2005, 2015 enlarged edition is a seminal work in the field of research and criticism of modern Assamese poetry. He has updated ‘Asomiya Sahityar Buranji'(History of Assamese Literature) vol 6 for the period of 1993-2010. He has been awarded Benu Siring Memorial Award 2015 by All Assam Poets’ Conference for his book ‘Adhunik Asomiya Kabita’. He has participated in various national and international seminars and conferences. His research papers have appeared in national journals time to time. His field of interests includes creative writing, Modern Assamese Literature,literary theory and criticism,translation studies and T.S.Eliot. He is a member of Assamese Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. Presently, he is a professor on the Department of Assamese, Gauhati University, Guwahati-781014, Assam,India.
