Leena Sarma is a well known author of northeast India with 8(eight) novels and 2(two) short story collections in Assamese to her credit. Most of her novels deal with socio-economic milieu with women-centric theme. A few of them throw light on historical issues also.
She writes regularly in the Hindu, Readers’ Digest and many other papers/magazines.
Her debut English novel ‘A Melody in the Wilderness’ published in September, 2014 by LiFi Publication, New Delhi is based on America. A review of the novel along with front-page author’s interview in the Hindu was published in October, 2014. Another full page, comprehensive review was published in Woman’s Era in January, 2015 and in The Pioneer in March, 2015. The book has received very good appreciation in general.
She regularly attends All India Writers’ Meet in different places under the auspices of SahityaAkademi. She was one of the members of a SahityaAkademi team of eminent writers to visit East Europe in 2012.
Widely travelled, she visited number of European countries and stayed in Pennsylvania State University, USA for one year (2000-01).
On professional front, MsSarma is an Indian Railway Service (IRS) Officer currently posted as GM/Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) in New Delhi.
