Jiban Narah

Jiban Narah was born in 1970 in the remote village of Morongial in Golaghat district of Assam . At a very young age, he was able to make an impact not only on his native Assamese but also on many other linguistic communities of India e.g. Malayalam, Bangla , Hindi,Marathi, Oriya,Manipuri,Tamil etc. through translations. His poems have also been translated into Polish.
Jiban Narah has to his credit five collections of poetry, four books edited by him, two novels , a personal essay and two compilations of Mishing poetry translated by him into Assamese. His book of Mishing folk poetry translated into English ( Listen my flowerbud : Mishing Tribal Oral Poetry of Assam ,2008 ) and Bangla( Suwanshiri Aar Joon-Beli ) published by Sahitya Akademi and Maan-Fakira ,`The Buddha and other poems’ , English translation of his poems was published by Monsoon edition . `Jiban Naraher Nirbachita kabita ’ and `Jiban Naraher Nirbachita Assami kabita’, `Bengali and Marathi translation of his poems’
His poems have been included in Oxford, Penguin, Sahitya Akademi and North-East Hill University  Anthology .
He works as a  teacher of Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College,Nagaon ,Assam. 782002.
