Gita Upadhyay

Born  in a rural society  surrounded  by  Mighty Brahmaputra  River  at place    called   Gangmauthan,Sonitpur in Assam  which happened to  be  a  holy  place  resided by  Vaishnav Saint Sri Sri  Sankardev  for long three  years  Gita  Upadhyay  found  a fertile  ground  for her  all round  development. Her father Late TankaNathUpadhyawas  a person with artistic temperament and had a great insight. Her grandfather ChabilalUpadhyaywas a renowned freedom fighter  and  her home was the  hub of activity where  renowned  people of Assam frequently visited.

After her  M.A  she  joined teaching profession at  SibsagarCollege, which was a place of  Great Ahom Kings  with  memory of Sati Joymati and edifices  built by Ahom kings.

Her creative instinct was triggered by Dairy of Ann Frank, which suddenly fall in her hands. She translated it into Assamese and Nepali Language.

She was awarded Sahitya academy award for 2016 and in 2011
