Basab Roy

Kolkata University’s Post Graduate Degree Holder, Mr. Basab Roy was born in Kolkata in 1966. By virtue of his work, he came to Assam and started writing about the Bengali Literature of North East. Along with writing articles for various Little Magazines of West Bengal, Tripura and Assam, he has worked for over a decade as the Assistant Editor of ‘DainikJugasankha’, the only Bengali Daily of the Brahmaputra Valley. At present, he is the Editorial Advisor of the only Bengali Monthly Magazine of Assam- ‘Byatikram’. He is also the publisher of the most discussed Little Magazine of Assam- ‘Ninth Column’. The subject of writer and journalist- Basab Ray’s writings are the true colours, essence and the development of Bengali Literature of North East. As a prolific translator he has translated two Assamese novels in Bengali – AradhanaPatangiyaGoswami’s ‘Kollolini’ and HironmoyiBarua’s ‘Priyadarshini’. Works edited: Kobi O Kobita (Poetry Magazine), Swami Chinmayananda, Hiren Bhattacharjya’s Poems and ‘Uttar-Purber Bangla GolpeShottaJigyasha’.
