Anitha Thampi is a Malayalam poet with three collections of poetry. Her first book, Muttamatikkumpol (While Sweeping the Frontyard), was published in 2004. Her second collection, Azhakillaathavayellam (All that are bereft of beauty) was published in 2010 and the third collection Alappuzha Vellam (Alappuzha Water) in 2016. In 2007, her Malayalam translations of Australian poet Les Murray were published in a bilingual edition. She has also translated I Saw Ramallah, the autobiographical monologue of Palestinian poet Mourid Barghouti in Malayalam.
Anitha has been translated into English, French, German, Swedish as well as various Indian languages, and her work has appeared in several journals and anthologies. She has participated in various events of poetry in India and abroad.
Anitha is based in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala-the state where she was born and bred.
